My polish looks like it was licked by a cat

Name's Dan and I've been slicing up jade on my MK saw but every time I get to polishing, I feel like I'm just wasting time and compounds. My final shine looks like it rolled through a dust storm.

Stumbled onto this place trying to figure out if there's a method to the madness or if I'm just missing a trick most of you picked up years ago.

Appreciate the welcome! I've been using cerium oxide on felt and canvas, but the shine's still more foggy mirror than showroom floor. Posted already in 1 of the forum sections.
